Young Authors pt. I: Fantasy & Young Artists pt. I: Surrealism

If you have a mind full of wonder and imagination and love to create worlds of your own, join us for this class steeped in surrealism.

Course length: 10 weeks

Meets 2 days a week: Mondays @ 2:00pm – 2:45pm (PST) and Wednesdays @ 1:00 – 1:45pm (PST)

Ages: 9 – 14

Class size: 4-8 learners

Price: $300 ($15 per class)

Focus: Analyze surrealism in both art and literature, study elements/characteristics associated with surrealism and surrealist artists & authors, set the stage to write and illustrate our own works of art in pt. II of the course

Goal: In pt. I of this course, we will read famous works of literature that use elements of surrealism and artists such as Salvador Dali, and how he portrayed characteristics in his art. In pt. II, we will take what we have learned and apply it to our own writing. By the end of the semester, each learner will have written and illustrated their own story containing elements of surrealism! This course has 2 teachers and meets on two separate days; Monday for literature and writing and Thursday for art and illustration.
